Many businesses spend a lot of time (and money) on creating great looking branding. They have logos professionally designed, they carefully choose brand colours that reflect the vibe of their products or services, and pick fonts that say something about their business.
But far fewer businesses think about how their brand sounds…
You might not think that your business has a sound – but it does! Just something as simple as the voicemail greeting your customers hear when you can’t answer the phone speaks volumes about your brand. It might be the first impression a potential new client gets of your business, so you need to make sure it’s a good one.
If you have any video content how does that sound? Video is so important to showcase your products or services, and to help you get found online (the search engines love video), but poor audio can ruin your videos. People will switch off if they can’t understand what’s being said, or if there is annoying background noise. I’m sure you will be making your videos look as good as possible, so make sure you know how to record the best quality audio you can so that they sound good too. (Or get someone else to do it for you of course!).
If you produce any online training for staff or clients, how does this sound? Is it good quality narration that will keep learners engaged, or will learners be switched off by hissy audio?

If you’re thinking to yourself, ‘I don’t need audio on my videos, the pictures speak for themselves, and I can always add captions,’ you might want to think again. Accessibility is really important, and not having any narration could be excluding a lot of people…
